MISSION PURPOSE To enhance reading and writing skills of our disadvantaged children by providing well–researched reading material based in an African context and African socialisation. Secondly, it is to expose children to stories to read for fun and for their development. PRODUCTS Books, posters, flashcards, games, puzzles and DVD's with stories.
BACKGROUND N F Saliwa Publishing cc develops Children’s books. Each series is unique in that each book develops a particular skill. Grade R books start with basics such as learning to hold a pencil and drawing up to writing and teaching African language learners using African games and concepts that they are familiar with to make them understand and grab concepts. The project has been developed by first language trained teachers who know the socialisation of these children, who have academic training to develop the material and who have been in foundation classes and have personally interacted with children and therefore know their strengths and weaknesses very well.
